Symonds finished 4-0 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Symonds defeated Mark Noseworthy (St. John's, NL) 7-1, then won 10-1 against Simon Perry (St. John's, NL) and 6-5 against Young. Symonds won 8-2 against Carter Holden (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Rick Rowsell Classic Championship title, Symonds earned 13.803 world rankings points along with the $2,600CDN first prize cheque, moving up 25 spots the World Ranking Standings into 64th place overall with 34.003 total points.
