Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO) finished 3-3 in the 11-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sobering lost 11-6 to Wesley Wendling (Wausau, WI), then responded with a 12-2 win over Daniel Casper (Chaska, MN). Sobering won 8-2 against Steven Birklid (Seattle, WA), then won 12-7 against Luc Violette (Chaska, MN). Sobering went on to lose 9-8 against Todd Birr (Blaine, MN). Sobering lost 7-6 to Violette in their final qualifying round match.
