Stefan Sever (Ljubliana, SLO) finished 1-4 in the 17-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sever lost 7-3 to Kalle Kiiskinen (Hyvinkaa, FIN), droppimg another game, 8-4 to Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE) where Sever responded with a 17-2 win over Harold Woods (Accra, NGR). Sever went on to lose 8-7 against Kristof Czermann (Budapest, HUN). Sever lost 6-5 to Gernot Higatzberger (Kitzbuehel, AUT) in their final qualifying round match.

Sever earned 0.655 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 180 spots the World Ranking Standings into 369th place overall with 0.655 total points. Sever ranks 213th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 0.655 points earned so far this season.
