Ruohonen lost 9-5 to John Shuster (Chaska, MN) where Ruohonen responded with a 8-7 win over Scott Dunnam (Philadelphia, PA). Ruohonen won 5-2 against Jed Brundidge (East St. Paul, MN), then won 11-8 against Dropkin. Ruohonen went on to lose 9-5 against Shuster. Ruohonen responded with a 7-6 win over Dunnam. Ruohonen won 6-5 against Brundidge, then won 7-6 against Persinger in their final qualifying round match.
 
Ruohonen earned 8.016 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 17 of the event schedule, Ruohonen did not improve upon their best events, remaining at 18th place on the World Ranking Standings with 164.135 total points. Ruohonen ranks 27th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 60.322 points earned so far this season.
