Johnson Tao (Edmonton, AB) qualified for the 2022 Canadian Junior World Qualifier playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 8-5 against Daymond Bernath (Saskatoon, SK). of the 2022 Canadian Junior World Qualifier in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan;

Tao finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tao defeated Dallas Burgess (Kakabeka Falls, NONT) 6-4, then won 8-2 against Chase MacMillan (Cornwall, PEI) and 9-1 against Josh Nowlan (Moncton, NB). Tao went on to lose 11-6 against Scott Mitchell (Whitby, ON). Tao responded with a 8-3 win over Jordon McDonald (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

Tao earned 9.975 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Canadian Junior World Qualifier. For week 18 of the event schedule, Tao did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
