Owen Purcell (Halifax, NS) won 10-9 over Nathan Young (St. John's, NL) in the Final of the Canadian Junior World Qualifier, held November 23 - 28, 2021 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Advancing directly to the semifinals, Purcell won 7-2 over Daymond Bernath (Saskatoon, SK) to advance to the championship game. of the 2022 Canadian Junior World Qualifier in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan;
 
Purcell finished 5-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Purcell defeated Raphael Patry (Jonquiere, QC) 14-4, then won 9-8 against Bernath and 9-3 against Young. Purcell won 10-3 against Jullian Bowling (Yellowknife, NT), then won 5-4 against Connor Deane (New Westminster, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Canadian Junior World Qualifier Championship title, Purcell earned 24.938 world rankings points, moving up 55 spots the World Ranking Standings into 70th place overall with 52.897 total points. Purcell ranks 43rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 47.084 points earned so far this season.
