To advance to the championship game, de Val/Eriksson won 6-5 over Jenny Perret/Martin Rios (Glarus, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2021 Gothenburg Mixed Doubles Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden; and won 9-2 over Marie Kaldvee/Harri Lill (Tallinn, EST) in the quarterfinals.
 
de Val/Eriksson finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, de Val/Eriksson defeated Martine Ronning/Mathias Braenden (Lillehammer, NOR) 10-4, then won 6-4 against Oona Kauste/Aku Kauste (Hyvinkaa, FIN) and 9-3 against Jasmin Lander/Henrik Holtermann (Hvidovre, DEN). de Val/Eriksson won 5-1 against Daniela Rupp/Kevin Wunderlin (Zug, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
