Young won 9-4 against Trent Skanes (St. John's, NL), then won 8-3 against Smith in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard Championship title, Young earned 12.500 world rankings points, moving up 27 spots the World Ranking Standings into 84th place overall with 46.833 total points.
