Ikue Kitazawa (Nagano, JPN) finished 6-6 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kitazawa defeated Dilsat Yildiz (Erzurum, TUR) 7-6, then won 9-2 against Stefania Constantini (Trentino, ITA) and 7-6 against Cory Thiesse (Duluth, USA). Kitazawa won 1-0 against Gina Aitken (Aberdeen, SCO). Kitazawa went on to lose 7-5 against Daniela Jentsch (Fuessen, GER). Kitazawa lost 10-4 to Kerri Einarson (Gimli, CAN). Kitazawa lost 8-4 to Anna Hasselborg (Sundbyberg, SWE) where Kitazawa responded with a 8-1 win over Madeleine Dupont (Hvidovre, DEN). Kitazawa went on to lose 7-3 against Alzbeta Zelingrova (Prague, CZE). Kitazawa responded with a 9-5 win over Marianne Roervik (Oslo, NOR). Kitazawa went on to lose 11-3 against Silvana Tirinzoni (Aarau, SUI). Kitazawa lost 1-0 to Eunjung Kim (Gangneung, KOR) in their final qualifying round match.

Kitazawa earned 23.264 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 35 of the event schedule, Kitazawa did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Kitazawa ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
