Kevin Tym (Edmonton, AB) needed a tiebreaker to advance to the playoffs, Tym finished 2-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tym defeated Jacob Libbus (Okotoks, AB) 7-5, then went on to lose 5-4 against Daylan Vavrek (Edmonton, AB). Tym responded with a 5-4 win over Brandt Holt (Sherwood Park, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Tym earned 1.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 18 of the event schedule, Tym did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Tym ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
