Kim finished 2-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim defeated Momoha Tabata (Sapporo, JPN) 5-3, then went on to lose 6-3 against Satsuki Fujisawa (Kitami, JPN). Kim responded with a 10-4 win over Asuka Kanai (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Karuizawa International Championship title, Kim earned 33.750 world rankings points along with the $8,035CDN first prize cheque. Kim move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 26.25 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 9th overall with 205.284 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
