To advance to the championship game, Whyte won 5-3 over Kody Hartung (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2022 Original 16 Mens Cash Spiel in Calgary, Alberta; and won 5-3 over Riku Yanagisawa (Karuizawa, JPN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2022 Original 16 Mens Cash Spiel in Calgary, Alberta;
 
Whyte finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Whyte defeated Brett Walter (Winnipeg, MB) 5-1, then won 10-2 against Jordan Peters (Winnipeg, MB) and 5-2 against Jacob Libbus (Okotoks, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Original 16 Mens Cash Spiel Championship title, Whyte earned 30.000 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN first prize cheque.
