In their opening game, Van Ryssel defeated Colton Olafson (Winnipeg, MB) 11-0, then won 6-3 against Ronan Peterson (Winnipeg, MB) and 9-3 against Tanner Graham (Winnipeg, MB). Van Ryssel went on to lose 10-1 against McDonald in their final qualifying round match.
