In their opening game, Tolvstad defeated Michael Blazing (Rochester, MN) 9-5, then won 9-7 against John Negus (Cleveland, OH) and 8-5 against Michael Allison (St. Louis, MO). Tolvstad won 9-3 against Cornell Brown (Park City, UT) in their final qualifying round match.
