In their opening game, Mikkelsen defeated Cole Tenetuik (North Battleford, SK) 6-5, then won 9-4 against Dennis Watts (Summerside, PEI) and 15-1 against Wade Kingdon (Iqaluit, NU). Mikkelsen went on to lose 7-6 against Johnson. Mikkelsen responded with a 7-3 win over Greg Power (Halifax, NS). Mikkelsen went on to lose 8-4 against Zachary Wasylik (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Mikkelsen ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
