In their opening game, Sonier defeated Cindy Dallaire (Sept-Iles, QC) 7-4, then went on to lose 8-0 against Philippe Menard (Mont Bruno, QC). Sonier responded with a 9-1 win over Guy Doyon (Thetford Mines, QC). Sonier went on to lose 11-3 against Frederic Lawton (Montreal, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
