In their opening game, Simard defeated Pierre Chartrand (Boucherville, QC) 8-4, then won 10-3 against Jacques Simard (Trois-Rivieres, QC) and 9-8 against Simon Hebert (Valleyfield, QC). Simard went on to lose 12-6 against Roger Bertrand (Buckingham, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
