In their opening game, Johnston defeated Alberta's Elliott Martens 5-4, then won 5-3 against Kayleigh Shannon (Calgary, AB) and 8-3 against Raquel Snideman (Lacombe, AB). Johnston won 5-1 against Alberta's Sophie Abbs in their final qualifying round match.
