Kalthoff lost 9-3 to Cody Sutherland (North Battleford, SK) where Kalthoff responded with a 10-0 win over Brendan Ross (Swift Current, SK). Kalthoff won 7-6 against Brent Gedak (Estevan, SK) to advance to the C-Qualifier where they 9-3 against Sutherland to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
 
Kalthoff earned 3.750 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
