McEwen went on to lose 8-6 against Landan Rooney (Whitby, ON). McEwen responded with a 8-2 win over Paul Moffatt (Waterloo, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

McEwen earned 10.625 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Ontario Tankard Open Qualifier, remaining in 24th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of -9.298 after improving upon their best so far this season.
