Gauthier finished 3-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gauthier defeated Chris Medford (Kimberley, BC) 7-4, then won 6-2 against Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) to advance to the A-Qualifier where they 9-8 against Pierce to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the BC Men's Provincials Championship title, Gauthier earned 18.750 world rankings points.
