Rooney lost 8-6 to Eunbin Kim (Kyungil, KOR) where Rooney responded with a 9-3 win over Serkan Karagoz (Erzurum, TUR). Rooney won 9-3 against Lukas Hostmaelingen (Oslo, NOR). Rooney went on to lose 8-4 against Giacomo Colli (Cortina d'Ampezzo, ITA). Rooney lost 8-2 to Benny Kapp (Fuessen/Oberstdorf , GER) where Rooney responded with a 11-5 win over Ethan Sampson (Chaska, USA) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Rooney earned 4.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Rooney move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 2.812 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 51st overall with 71.548 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
