Gushue finished 7-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Jacques Gauthier (Victoria, BC) 6-5, then went on to lose 6-4 against Mike McEwen (Toronto, ON). Gushue responded with a 13-9 win over Scott Jones (Moncton, NB). Gushue won 8-7 against Felix Asselin (Montreal, QC), then won 8-6 against Tyler Smith (Charlottetown , PEI) and 6-3 against Brendan Bottcher (Calgary, AB). Gushue won 8-3 against Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB), then won 8-3 against Thomas Scoffin (Whitehorse, YK) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Tim Hortons Brier Championship title, Gushue earned 71.250 world rankings points, remaining in 5th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of -0.85899999999998 after improving upon their best so far this season.
