Sturmay went on to lose 8-3 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, CAN). Sturmay lost 9-8 to Mike McEwen (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Sturmay earned 10.688 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 17th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of -0.249 after improving upon their best so far this season. Sturmay ranks 17th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 160.750 points earned so far this season.
