Ashley Kalk/Craig MacAlpine (Edmonton, AB) finished 7-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kalk/MacAlpine defeated
Chantele Broderson/Kyler Kleibrink (Edmonton, AB) 6-4, then won 8-2 against Danielle Schmiemann/Jason Ginter (Edmonton, AB) and 5-4 against 's Sharli Warawa/Justin Runciman. Kalk/MacAlpine won 7-6 against Serena Gray-Withers/Andrew Gittis (Edmonton, AB), then won 6-1 against Emma Wiens/Andrew Nowell (Weyburn, SK). Kalk/MacAlpine went on to lose 9-6 against Christa Shulman/Rodney Ouellette (Edmonton, AB). Kalk/MacAlpine lost 7-6 to Alberta's Catherine Clifford/Desmond Young where Kalk/MacAlpine responded with a 8-4 win over Broderson/Kleibrink. Kalk/MacAlpine won 8-5 against Paige Papley/Evan van Amsterdam (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Alberta Best Western Mixed Doubles Championship Championship title, Kalk/MacAlpine earned 15.000 world rankings points. For week 29 of the event schedule, Kalk/MacAlpine did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Kalk/MacAlpine ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
