Rooney went on to lose 8-5 against Nova Scotia's Calan MacIsaac. Rooney lost 9-6 to Adam Drewitz (Saskatoon, SK) where Rooney responded with a 6-1 win over Adam Bedard (Rouyn-Noranda, QC) in their final qualifying round match.

With their fourth place finish at the New Holland Canadian Junior Championship, Rooney take home 12.000 world rankings points.
