Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) qualified for the 2024 Astec Safety Challenge playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-4 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2024 Astec Safety Challenge in Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada;
Gushue finished 3-0 in the 21-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Anton Hood (Naseby, NZL) 7-3, then won 7-2 against Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) and 6-1 against Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) in their final qualifying round match.
Gushue earned 21.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Astec Safety Challenge, remaining in 7th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 13.5 after improving upon their best so far this season. Gushue ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 195.875 points earned so far this season.
