Chris Gardner (Ottawa, ON) finished 5-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gardner defeated Robin Duguay (Buckingham, QC) 8-7, then won 9-1 against Lauren Horton (Montreal, QC) and 5-4 against Jasmin Gibeau (Buckingham, QC). Gardner won 5-1 against Sam Steep (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON), then won 10-5 against Jamie Birtwistle (Ottawa, ON). Gardner went on to lose 6-3 against Jean-Michel Menard (Gatineau, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
