Elina Virtaala/Ville Forsstrom (Joensuu, FIN) finished 4-2 in the 7-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Virtaala/Forsstrom defeated Susanna Santti/Iikko Santti (Tampere, FIN) 7-5, then won 6-5 against Bonnie Nilhamn/Paavo Kuosmanen (Hyvinkaa, FIN). Virtaala/Forsstrom went on to lose 8-3 against Lotta Immonen/Markus Sipila (Espoo, FIN). Virtaala/Forsstrom responded with a 7-3 win over Tiina Suuripaa/Tomi Rantamaki (Hyvinkaa, FIN). Virtaala/Forsstrom won 10-4 against Miia Ahrenberg/Esa Kejonen (Turku, FIN). Virtaala/Forsstrom went on to lose 6-1 against Mikko Saastamoinen/Ulla Saastamoinen (Joensuu, FIN) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Finnish Mixed Doubles Championship, Virtaala/Forsstrom take home 5.500 world rankings points. For week 30 of the event schedule, Virtaala/Forsstrom did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Virtaala/Forsstrom ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
