Sam Mooibroek (Whitby, ON) lost 6-4 to Rylan Kleiter (Saskatoon, SK) in the Final of the U25 NextGen Classic, held August 29 - September 2, 2023 at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Mooibroek won 9-5 over Nathan Young (St. Johns, NL) in the semifinals

Mooibroek finished 5-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mooibroek defeated Ryan Parent (Calgary, AB) 8-1, then won 7-2 against Sam Steep (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) and 7-4 against Ryan Jacques (Edmonton, AB). Mooibroek won 9-0 against Daymond Bernath (Saskatoon, SK), then won 8-3 against Kleiter in their final qualifying round match.
