Jason Montgomery (Victoria, BC) won 12-4 over Kyler Kleibrink (Langley, BC) in the Final of the Island Shootout, held November 10 - 13, 2023 at the Victoria Curling Club in Victoria, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Montgomery won 5-4 over Catlin Schneider (Victoria, BC) in the semifinals of the 2023 Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; and won 6-2 over Jared Kolomaya (Richmond, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2023 Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada;
Montgomery finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Montgomery defeated Jeff Berg (Vancouver, BC) 6-4, then won 8-3 against Neil Dangerfield (Victoria, BC). Montgomery went on to lose 7-2 against Schneider. Montgomery lost 5-4 to Nicholas Connolly (Seattle, WA) where Montgomery responded with a 7-1 win over Wes Craig (Shawnigan Lake, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Island Shootout Championship title, Montgomery earned 7.500 world rankings points along with the $3,500CDN first prize cheque. Montgomery move up 18 spots after posting a net gain of 4.25 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 95th overall with 31.750 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Montgomery ranks 86th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 18.750 points earned so far this season.
