Selena Sturmay (Edmonton, AB) lost 2-0 to Beth Peterson (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the MCT Championships, held January 12 - 14, 2024 at the Heather Curling Club in Winnipeg, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Sturmay won 6-1 over Rachel Kaatz (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2024 MCT Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;
Sturmay finished 3-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Terry Ursel (Arden, MB) 7-2, then went on to lose 7-5 against Lisa McLeod (Winnipeg, MB). Sturmay responded with a 6-1 win over Kristy Watling (Winnipeg, MB). Sturmay won 2-0 against Ursel in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the MCT Championships, Sturmay take home 8.250 world rankings points along with the $1,500CDN prize. Sturmay move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 2.25 points improving upon their best 7 results so far this season, ranking 22nd overall with 147.703 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Sturmay ranks 16th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 127.875 points earned so far this season.
