McEwen finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Cole Adams (Calgary, AB) 7-3, then won 7-5 against Jared Jenkins (Calgary, AB) and 7-1 against Giacomo Colli (Cortina d’Ampezzo, ITA) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Original 16 Mens Cash Spiel Championship title, McEwen earned 22.500 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN first prize cheque. McEwen move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 5.395 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 15th overall with 178.047 total points on the World Ranking Standings. McEwen ranks 12th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 109.625 points earned so far this season.
