Martin Rios (Glarus, SUI) needed a tiebreaker to advance to the playoffs, failed to advance to the playoff round, losing in the tiebreaker round, Rios finished 1-3 in the 23-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Rios defeated Fabio Ribotta (Pinerolo, ITA) 7-6, then went on to lose 8-0 against James Craik (Forfar, SCO). Rios lost 6-2 to Benny Kapp (Fuessen, GER). Rios lost 7-6 to Ribotta in their final qualifying round match.
 
Rios earned 3.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 14 of the event schedule, Rios did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
