In their opening game, Aoki lost 7-2 to Takumi Maeda (Kitami, JPN), droppimg another game, 8-2 to Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) where Aoki responded with a 7-4 win over Japan's Kantaro Kawano. Aoki won 7-4 against Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Aoki earned 1.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 116 spots the World Ranking Standings into 342nd place overall with 2.063 total points. Aoki ranks 42nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.500 points earned so far this season.
