Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) won 9-6 over Hayato Sato (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup, held August 10 - 13, 2023 in Hokkaido, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Morozumi won 5-4 over Takumi Maeda (Kitami, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2023 Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup in Hokkaido, Japan;
 
Morozumi finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Morozumi defeated Japan's Kantaro Kawano 8-3, then won 6-5 against Kohsuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN) and 8-5 against Sato in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Wakkanai Midori Challenge Cup Championship title, Morozumi earned 18.750 world rankings points along with the $9,292CDN first prize cheque, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 28th place overall with 124.000 total points. Morozumi ranks 5th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 19.875 points earned so far this season.
