To advance to the championship game, Johnston won 3-2 over Brian Adams Jr. (Thunder Bay, NO) in the semifinals of the 2023 TBayTel Major League of Curling in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; and won 7-5 over Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay, NO) in the quarterfinals. of the 2023 TBayTel Major League of Curling in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada;
 
Johnston finished 9-6 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Johnston lost 8-4 to Ben Mikkelsen (Thunder Bay, NO), droppimg another game, 7-3 to Bonot where Johnston responded with a 7-6 win over Zach Warkentin (Thunder Bay, NO). Johnston went on to lose 8-5 against Gary Weiss (Thunder Bay, NO). Johnston lost 6-3 to Ron Rosengren (Thunder Bay, NO) where Johnston responded with a 7-6 win over Bryan Burgess (Thunder Bay, NO). Johnston won 6-4 against Jackson Dubinsky (Thunder Bay, NO), then won 6-2 against Andrew Sinclair (Thunder Bay, NO). Johnston went on to lose 7-4 against Adams Jr.. Johnston lost 6-3 to Al Hackner (Thunder Bay, NO) where Johnston responded with a 5-3 win over Robyn Despins (Thunder Bay, NO). Johnston won 8-1 against Chris Silver (Thunder Bay, NO), then won 5-4 against McCarville and 5-2 against Jodi Judd (Thunder Bay, NO). Johnston won 6-5 against Denis Malette (Thunder Bay, NO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the TBayTel Major League of Curling, Johnston take home 2.750 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN prize, moving up 72 spots the World Ranking Standings into 242nd place overall with 5.452 total points.
