Daichi Sato (Tokyo, JPN) finished 1-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sato defeated Hideaki Kurokawa (Nagano, JPN) 7-6, then went on to lose 12-3 against Hayaki Kasai (Sapporo, JPN). Sato lost 7-3 to Kota Kimura (Wakkanai, JPN).
