McEwen finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Retornaz 9-7, then won 6-1 against Ross Whyte (Stirling, SCO) and 7-5 against Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB). McEwen won 8-3 against James Craik (Forfar, SCO). McEwen went on to lose 7-4 against Yannick Schwaller (Geneva, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.

McEwen earned 42.500 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Princess Auto Players' Championship.
