Shunta Kobayashi (Sapporo, JPN) lost 12-5 to Takumi Maeda (Kitami, JPN) in the Final of the Hokkaido Curling Championships, held December 6 - 12, 2023 in Sapporo, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Kobayashi won 6-5 over Taia Nakahara (Kitami, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2024 Hokkaido Curling Championships in Sapporo, Japan;
Kobayashi finished 4-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kobayashi defeated Yutaro Kasai (Sapporo, JPN) 6-4, then won 7-1 against Hiroyuki Honda (Kitami, JPN) and 6-5 against Fukuhiro Ohno (Hokkaido, JPN). Kobayashi went on to lose 9-2 against Maeda. Kobayashi lost 5-3 to Yuya Takigahira (Hokkaido, JPN) where Kobayashi responded with a 12-1 win over Keita Takano (Hokkaido, JPN). Kobayashi went on to lose 9-5 against Nakahara in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Hokkaido Curling Championships, Kobayashi take home 2.750 world rankings points, moving up 69 spots the World Ranking Standings into 262nd place overall with 5.000 total points. Kobayashi ranks 205th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.000 points earned so far this season.
