Urban Noring (Goteborg, SWE) finished 1-3 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Noring lost 13-2 to Sweden's Fredrik Nyman, droppimg another game, 6-5 to Claes Eriksson (Uppsala, SWE) where Noring responded with a 6-0 win over Johnny Eriksson (Silverstenen, SWE). Noring went on to lose 11-5 against Johan Bergman (Sundbyberg, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Noring earned 0.375 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
