Tao went on to lose 6-4 against Orrin Carson (Stirling, SCO). Tao lost 9-3 to Lukas Hostmaelingen (Oslo, NOR). Tao lost 9-1 to Italy's Stefano Gilli in their final qualifying round match.

Tao earned 2.250 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
