John Shuster (Duluth, MN) finished 2-3 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shuster defeated Andrew Symonds (St. John's, NL) 7-3, then went on to lose 7-4 against Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI). Shuster responded with a 5-4 win over ByeongJin Jeong (Seoul, KOR). Shuster went on to lose 6-5 against Mike McEwen (Saskatoon, SK). Shuster lost 7-6 to Korey Dropkin (Duluth, MN) in their final qualifying round match.

Shuster earned 5.250 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 12 of the event schedule, Shuster did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Shuster ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
