Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) finished 1-3 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Koe lost 9-6 to Sandy MacEwan (Sudbury, NO), then responded with a 8-1 win over Tyler Smith (Charlottetown, PEI). Koe went on to lose 7-6 against Magnus Ramsfjell (Trondheim, NOR). Koe lost 8-3 to Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Koe earned 2.625 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 12 of the event schedule, Koe did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Koe ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
