Korey Dropkin (Duluth, MN) finished 3-3 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dropkin defeated Tyler Smith (Charlottetown, PEI) 9-3, then won 8-1 against Sandy MacEwan (Sudbury, NO). Dropkin went on to lose 5-3 against Joel Retornaz (Cembra, ITA). Dropkin lost 5-4 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) where Dropkin responded with a 7-6 win over John Shuster (Duluth, MN). Dropkin went on to lose 5-2 against Brad Jacobs (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
