Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE) finished 4-3 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Klima defeated Sam Mooibroek (Whitby, ON) 9-2, then won 6-5 against Brad Jacobs (Edmonton, AB) and 6-4 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) to advance to a A-Qualifier game where they lost 7-0 against Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI). Klima responded with a 8-5 win over Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) to advance to a B-Qualifier game where they lost 4-3 against Mike McEwen (Saskatoon, SK) to drop into a C-Qualifier game where they lost 7-4 to Carruthers in their final qualifying round match.

Klima earned 10.500 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
