Smith/Thomson finished 3-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith/Thomson defeated Julia Markle/Wayne Tuck Jr. (Ilderton, ON) 8-7, then went on to lose 6-5 against Hailey Armstrong/Billy Woods (Metcalfe, ON). Smith/Thomson lost 7-5 to Terri Weeks/Sam Steep (waterloo, ON) where Smith/Thomson responded with a 6-3 win over Sarah Jagger/Chris Wai (Toronto, ON). Smith/Thomson won 7-2 against Sarah Bailey/Dylan Sipura (Georgetown, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Ontario Kinghome Mixed Doubles Provincial Championship, Smith/Thomson take home 11.000 world rankings points.
