Hlushak lost 12-4 to Ben Kiist (Edmonton, AB) where Hlushak responded with a 11-5 win over Kenan Wipf (Calgary, AB). Hlushak won 8-5 against Nolan Duncan (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Hlushak earned 0.750 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
