Kuchelyma won 10-5 against Rodney Pederson (Moose Jaw, SK), then won 9-7 against Mike Fitzgerald (Saint John, NB). Kuchelyma went on to lose 8-7 against Gerry Austgarden (Kelowna, BC). Kuchelyma lost 8-3 to Gil Dash (Moose Jaw, SK) where Kuchelyma responded with a 8-1 win over Doug Morris (Schomberg, ON). Kuchelyma went on to lose 10-6 against Martin Purvis (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
