Zheng/Pietrangelo finished 4-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Zheng/Pietrangelo defeated Lindsey Burgess/Ben Morin (Vernon, BC) 10-3, then won 9-2 against Amanda Skiffington/Calan MacIsaac (Truro, NS) and 8-5 against Olivia Jones/Dustin Mikush (Edmonton, AB). Zheng/Pietrangelo won 7-6 against Claire Booth/Tyson Toews (Red Deer, AB). Zheng/Pietrangelo went on to lose 8-7 against Serena Gray-Withers/Andrew Nowell (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
